Dreams

Sky so blue, sun so bright
Tinted with tall green might,
Soft is the grass, cool is the breeze
I truly feel, at full ease
Days are long, nights are bright
Often, I feel your warm delight
With eyes deep, and words true
Never am I far from you

But in a flash, a bolt of light
This wonderful vision leaves my sight
Before my eyes, a barren wasteland,
Everything comes and goes as planned
Cold creeps across my spine
This room as hollow as a mine,
Change doesn't come round this door,
The windows look ominously at the floor

Out away from this place,
I come across many a friendly face
Laughing, dancing, having a good time
I overjoyed, by these friends of mine,
Something’s missing, something’s bare
The girl I love is never there

I always return to this place of mine
Days submerge into my mind
Spending many an hour in this room
Thinking, is a way to escape its tomb,
he makes love, flies, and rides away
but a few hours a day, he can only stay.

In a flash, a bolt of light
All these dreams leave my sight,
Back to my room I stare and sit
The cold creeping up my lip
