THE LION HUNT

I WATCHED THESE FOUR LIONS AS THEY STALKED
THEIR PREY.
A KILL WOULD MEAN FOOD FOR THEIR PRIDE
TODAY.
THESE FOUR LIONS ALL FROM THE SAME PRIDE.
TOOK PART IN THIS HUNT, AS THEY WALKED
SIDE BY SIDE.

A HERD OF WILDER BEAST WAS THEIR QUARRY
TODAY
THEY WOULD SEEK ONE AND ONLY ONE WOULD
THEY SLAY.
THE HERD BECAME RESTLESS AND WOULD
CONSTANTLY STARE.
TO LET THE HUNTERS KNOW THEY WERE ON
GUARD AND AWARE.

THE HUNTERS SURVEYED THE HERD, WITH SHARP
EYES TO SEEK
TO FIND THE UNWARY, THE FEEBLE, OR WEAK.
THEY SPOTTED THEIR PREY, THEY SEEKED ONLY
ONE.
AND NOW THE REAL HUNT HAD JUST BEGUN.

THEY SPREAD THEIR RANKS, ONE TO THE LEFT AND
ONE TO THE RIGHT.
TWO TO THE CENTER TO KEEP THE HERD IN SIGHT.
THEY CROUCHED AND CREPT TILL THE STAGE WAS
SET.
THEY SHIVERED AND SHOOK WAITING TO SPRING
THEIR NET.

THE HERD BECAME VERY QUIET AND STOOD VERY
TENSE.
FOR THE ATTACK THAT WAS COMING, THERE WAS
LITTLE DEFENSE.
THEN WITH A ROAR AND A CHARGE AND A QUICK
BURST OF SPEED.
THEY STARTELED THE HERD AND THE HERD BEGAN
TO STAMPEDE.

AND THE HUNTER CHARGED QUICKLY TO NARROW
THE GAP.
THE BEAST THEY SELECTED WAS NOW CAUGHT IN
THEIR TRAP.
THE LEAD LION RACED WITH QUICKNESS AND SKILL.
AND LEAPED AT THE THROAT AND MADE A VERY
QUICK KILL.

AS THE OTHER LION PLUNGED IN TO CLAIM THEIR
SHARE.
AS THE REST OF THE HERD GRAZED ON WITHOUT A
WORRY OR CARE.
