The floating market
"THE FLOATING MARKET"
The sky is blue, the clouds are white
Oh the sun is high and so bright
The environment is humid
The atmosphere is moist indeed
Watch and look at the splendid view
Admire things you never knew
Contemplate the vivid colors
You'll be enchanted for hours
An assortment of surprises
A blend of beauty that rises
A sweet multicolour image
A bright postcard for your usage
A burst of colours come alive
And everything starts to revive.
The market seems calm from afar
Yes its calmness would be bizarre
If you really approach closer
Soon you'll hear the noises louder
You'll feel the clamorous market
Dynamic sounds in a packet
An orchestra with no maestro
Same sounds coming out of each row
A crowded market so blatant
And the scene is merely brilliant
You'll see many merchants in boats
Riding up the river and float
Vendors paddling back and forth
Their struggle is too worth
They're wearing very modest clothes
Humble from their head to their toes
Simple, nothing to be ashamed
And their faces naive, not famed
The sellers are of all ages
Their tradition never changes
They have their own way of working
No matter gaining or losing
They put so much effort in it
They get tired a little bit
A daily cruise for just a race
A competition to embrace
People taking all the chances
Keeping track of their finances
They're eager to sell everything
They're experts, and it's a blessing
They have obstacles to confront
So they have to be more upfront
They have contacts with their neighbours
A connection for good humours
Sometimes conflicts rise up in there
Often it would be hard to bear
That's how they become enemies
Few overcome difficulties.
Take a glance at the merchandise
Superb, you'll devour with your eyes
Merchants dragging the best they own
Resplendent nothing to be thrown
Exposing all in abundance
Each have ravishing appearance
Some bundles of vegetables
Exotic fruits like pineapples
Starfruits, bananas and mangoes
Lychees, coconuts and oh ohs
Sea food and warm bowls of noodles
Eggs and spicy fried chicken oodles
Woven baskets, flowers and plants
Souvenirs and a lot of hats
Now hear the merchants calling out
"Come buy succulent fruits." They shout
"We have luscious vegetables
Excellent food for your tables."
"We have flowers for your loved ones
Roses are the fabulous ones."
"Gerbera, orchids and jasmine
Smell the fresh scent and breathe in."
Just look at their enthusiasm
The way they sell a kilogram
See the customers bargaining
And hear how they are discussing
Clients comparing the prices
And expressing their caprices
Sellers always try to convince
So they are wily ever since
Oh they know how to attract you
Attempting to fascinate you
A deal is done with just a nod
A challenge with the help of God
Just visualize the give and take
All are busy without a break
The floating market is awesome
That you don't want to go back home
Perfect amid all the chaos
You won't miss it, it's obvious.
