Heavy Night
Heavy night hangs over me
Like a warm blanket
Covering me from the sun of the day
The stars blink their sightless eyes
Looking for lost yesterdays
Unaware of new tomorrows
The moon shines its' pseudo light
Fooling us with thoughts of day
But cold reality awaits
Why do I fear the day?
And long for night's cold embrace
Daylight is warm and welcoming
Sun gives life and warms the heart
But dark night is my refuge
Others measure time in days
My time is measured in nights
Days endured, nights embraced
Sleep does not come
So I long for the first rays of light
So I can rest and wait for night to return
