Michael My Son

Michael my son–in your early childhood and formative years,
enjoy our company and that of others–
playing outside and inside, and being on the run,

Especially through these Spring and Summer months you’ll have under the sun;
Oh yes, Michael; enjoy these early years of life, for they’ll not return,

As you grow older and look back–for them you’ll someday yearn;
You give us pleasure too–of which you know not,
Reflecting your image to us in the form of what we’ve got;
You’ll soon be in school–learning and growing up fast,
Thence, you’ll think and wonder both why and how the time has passed;
Enjoyment and pleasure can all be had during your educational years,
With the proper frame of mind, love, and guidance can be had–
bringing us all many cheers;
The next thing you’ll meet will be higher education,

Taking it in stride and doing your best will but allow you to take your place
within city, state, and nation;
As you do these things, you’ll see what I’m meaning,
You’ll look back over the years to reminisce of them, since they won’t be returning;
Yes, time passes on and waits for no one,
Enjoy it now while it’s here–Michael My Son.
