I Thought About You Today

I thought about you today
There must have been something
Somewhere that triggered a memory
Someone might have mentioned your name

I thought about you today
My mind went back all those years
The fun, the passion, the tears
The image of you and me

I thought about you today
And couldn’t help but wonder
Where did you go in life?
What did you do?

I thought about you today
How young we really were
How naive we all can be
Thinking it would last through eternity

I thought about you today
My mind will not let me forget
The first kiss, the first time
My first and only true love

I thought about you today
And had to stop
Why do I question us now?
Now that so many years have gone

I thought about you today
And had to smile
What would I say if I saw you?
What words would stumble out?

I thought about you today
About your life and mine
Where did things go wrong?
In the end I guess they didn’t

I just wanted you to know
I thought about you today.
