Grandpa

The day that you left us
You didn’t say good-bye.
God was calling his angel home,
There was no time to ask why.

How we cried when you left
The pain was felt by all.
Memories now is all we have
And your pictures on the wall.

Though I cannot see you,
I know that your still here.
In my memories you will always live,
In my heart you’re always near.

Tears have fallen for you,
Some happy and some sad.
A man that I grew up to love,
A man I called my Grand-Dad.

We miss you very dearly,
You’re missed very much.
You will never be forgotten,
You’re in a child’s touch.

12 Daniel June 19, 2009 at 8:02 PM

i really liked it i would rate it 9.999 out of 10 but that 0.001 is because i dont get that last line

13 Stormy June 20, 2009 at 9:55 PM

Daniel, The last line is sentiment. My husband and I struggled to get pregnant with our second child. Tried for 4 years after the birth of our first. I got pregnant very soon after my grandpa died. I like to think he was up there giving me a hand.

Beautiful poem Stormy. I only wish I could fathom the emotion put into this piece. Unfortunately I’m like a stone-wall when it comes to emotions.

46 Jessica Hope Boyd October 22, 2009 at 9:16 PM

This is a nice poem… I know exactly how you feel because I was raised by my grandparents so when my grandfather died when I was 11, everyone just said, hey im sorry about your grandfather and left it at that, without understanding that I hadn’t just lost my grandfather like most people do. I had lost my father… The only man I had known as dad and had lived with all my life just like my mother or anyone else and their parents. Again, I really love this poem…
