The bleak winds of the darkened night
tickled my spine, as I grasped my chair tightly.
My eyes were focused on nothing more that night,
than the single shooting star that was shining so brightly.
 
My wishes we're clear and aloud they were spoken
I wished that all hearts, could never be broken.
I wished for the world to be free from all disease
that wish seemed to echo, travelling in the breeze.
 
I wished for a world where war is unknown
I wished for a world, where there's no need to ever be alone.
 
I wished for a world full of love and affection
I wished for a world without fear and rejection
 
I wished for a world without sadness and tears,
I'd been hoping to wish upon a shooting star for years.
 
But just as I recited my wishes as listed,
I realised that no shooting star had even existed.
My hope was thrown, and ever so twisted.
 
… Sadly my shooting star was just a plane travelling far in the distance.
