Ok, so a few weeks ago I was looking for poems about giving up on love… and literally I couldn't find any (not kidding)! But then I came across yahoo questions and a girl was looking for poems about giving up on love just as I… and this one guy answered “Poets by their nature do not tend to give up on love”. We are all poets here; Do you think this is true? If so why?

I think it's true that poets hold grasp to love.  You can sit here and read about broken love, hurt love, scorned love, forbidden love, new love, old love, and even the why can't I find love or keep love. But regardless it's about love. It's the one thing that can drive a person insane, with or without it, but also the one thing that everyone is searching for. Even though I have tendencies to be a pessimist, and always expecting the worst even when things are great, I hold onto love. Love puts balance back into things that seem to be missing. If I had to choose one thing to hold onto for the rest of my life, I would choose love. Now my way of thinking may not be that of others, but the way I see it, when you give up on love, you give up on yourself.

Some Poets tend to lean towards losing love, as an emotion. Usually using a figure(person) as an object to there own subjective poetic capability's. Most poets tend to write on the subject of love or somebody they have fallen for. Poets in General do not just generalize poetry on emotions or anything of that sort. Poetry comes from the heart. If somebody wrote a poem with a bunch of random words, it's still poetry.

I wouldn't choose to hold onto love.

Love can become the only thing that can inspire somebody to do poetry.

If I had to chose one thing to write poetry or even to hold onto

That would be my complete insanity.

My insanity is what inspires me.

If I was sane, my poems would be more…of the crowd, if you understand what I mean.

I will admit that I'm in love with Love itself! Most of my creative love poems or normal poems tend to come during the early stages of relationships i.e when I'm trying to make someone fall in love with me. I do tend to write them poems too. But yh, to me love is a beautiful thing, even if you are not with someone. I think without the love for love, one cannot be in a loving relationship. does that make sense to anyone? To be fair, the idea of giving up on love poems have never crossed my mind it I think it will open a whole new ideas into my head.

Truth is I have never written love poem or experienced love Embarassed. I want to try to write a love poem… but so many people write love poems… I don't want to be another one of 'those' people. I want to be unique not a love sick person obsessed over love and depend on it. I am afraid If I write a love poem basically… I will become like that Frown. Any advice?

Poets are not above anything than what they really are: human beings. A poet can choose to feel love, or they can choose to shun it out. As a human being, I choose to shun it out; only because I don't like to be vulnerable and paranoid to those who are able to make an impact on such a strong emotion. Sure, just like anyone else you can choose to accept and embrace it, but it doesn't take a poet to experiment with an emotion just to feel it.

KK, it is easy to imitate an emotion. If you do decide to write a love poem, I suggest that you remain cautious if you want to not get caught up within love. However, if you do; Embrace the emotion. It may convey the full effects of the emotion in its prime when you write. You may even come to realize that you like the emotion of love. It's hard not to.

SmileSmile I think we as poets should never give up on love because love is a gift to be shared and cared for and it should not be in our nature to give up on love because poetry is more of exspressing our feelings and share with people poetry is more like art to express love thats why I write so don't be confused because some people don't have love and so they need that love that we can share even more so Iam a christan women who can share to people about how much God loves them

This is absolutely true!

Just look at me.

I, as a poet, have given up on love, and yet I have not given up on love.

I'll leave it up to you to decipher that.

. . .then again, giving up on love and realizing that it has given up on you and left you for dead are two different things.

I think it's not just poets who don't give up on love. Anybody can choose not to give up on love.

To give up on love means to give up on life itself.

As for poems about giving up on love,

it is possible that none has ever written.

This, I believe, is because  a true poet's ultimate source of inspiration

is love.
