A Lie On Your Lips

A lie on your lips;
A blemish perceived to vanish
But over time it twines into life
And under the thin veil of your perceptions,
You know the essence of your hidden self is exposed
Thus the reason why the bench you sit is bare with brown,
A place where your best friend once did sit.
So swallow your pride, before reality shakes your hand
But in the end the truth is nude
Now you know life is a game where every law reveals the truth.
The past is now dead and gone as now your present is hell
The new beginning was a horrific ending
And when the smoke clears there will be no one near
You’re alone in your zone…
You are a liar that’s what I’m told
You are a liar that’s what I know
A lie is a void to be left unfilled
And this I know from tales I have left untold.

This is actually really good…the diction is superb, it uses an abstract scheme instead of a dull, repetitive rhyming…..and it accurately brings to light the feeling of betrayal. Very good.

Amazing poem! I love how it isn’t the ‘norm’ of rhyming. It has such a flow, a rhythm, that can be felt by simply reading it. I love the way you didn’t simply write what you were feeling. It was abstract, not straight-forward. That was awesome :)

Sorry you lost your best friend ,i know it sucks to put your trust in someone ,and they walk all over your heart.Been there done that,or been done to.I thought it was a very powerful, moving poem, and i think you have warm, kind soul just by reading a few of your poems. Here’s a thought i will leave you with to cheer you up.Life’s not the breaths you take,it’s the moments that take your breath away.
